How to make Bluey Sugar Cookies

Bluey cookies are one of those party treats that instantly bring smiles. They’re playful, colorful, and full of personality, making them a perfect fit for kids’ birthdays and Bluey-themed celebrations. Because Bluey and Bingo are characters rooted in imagination and everyday play, cookies inspired by them feel fun and approachable rather than overly formal. That makes them especially appealing for parties centered around young children.

One of the biggest reasons Bluey cookies work so well is their versatility. They can be the star of the dessert table, a sweet addition alongside other treats, or even a take-home favor guests remember long after the party ends. Their familiar shapes and friendly faces instantly connect kids to the theme and help bring the celebration together visually.

How to use Bluey and Bingo Cookies

Bluey and Bingo cookies can be used in a variety of ways throughout a party, making them one of the most flexible treats you can include. One popular option is to feature them front and center on the dessert table. When arranged neatly and paired with coordinated colors, these cookies become an instant focal point that draws kids in.

They also work beautifully as individual treats. Placing a cookie at each place setting or serving them on small plates makes dessert time simple and organized. For kids’ parties, this approach helps reduce mess and keeps things moving smoothly.

Bluey and Bingo cookies can also double as party favors. Packaging them thoughtfully allows guests to take home a sweet reminder of the celebration. This is especially helpful if you want to streamline your party planning by combining dessert and favor into one element.

No matter how you choose to use them, presentation is key. Keeping displays clean and intentional helps the cookies stand out without overwhelming the table. When styled thoughtfully, Bluey and Bingo cookies elevate the dessert spread and reinforce the theme effortlessly.

If you are planning a Bluey themed birthday party…these adorable cookies are going to be PERFECTION.  They can easily be displayed on a dessert table or placed in clear cellophane bags to give out as party treats.

Either way…they are fun and simple and look like they are WAY harder to make than they are!

Ideas for a Bluey party

A Bluey party is all about imagination, movement, and playful fun. Bluey and Bingo cookies naturally fit into this theme and can even inspire the rest of the party design. Their colors and friendly shapes help guide decisions about décor, food, and activities.

When planning a Bluey party, consistency is key. Repeating colors and playful elements throughout the space helps the party feel cohesive without being cluttered. Cookies styled to match the theme can anchor the dessert table and influence the overall look of the celebration.

Bluey parties also work best when they encourage free play. Simple activities and open spaces allow kids to engage with the theme naturally. Bluey and Bingo cookies support this relaxed flow by being easy to serve and enjoy without slowing the party down.

With thoughtful planning, Bluey party ideas come together in a way that feels joyful and intentional. Bluey and Bingo cookies help bring the theme to life while keeping the celebration approachable and fun for everyone involved.

Bluey and Bingo Cookies Tutorial: STEP by STEP

Alright…let’s take a look at how to make these fun and adorable Bluey and Bingo cookies…

The steps are pretty much the same for each character, just using slightly different colors for each.

Materials:

Step 1:

Prep your sugar cookie dough.  I recommend my basic cut out sugar recipe, but you can use whatever recipe you wish, as long as they don’t spread a lot when baking.

Start by liberally flouring the surface and the rolling pin.  Roll out dough until it about ¼ inch thick. Using the round cookie cutter, cut the cookies and place on parchment covered cookie sheets.  Bake per recipe.

Allow cookies to completely cool prior to decorating.  I like to bake the cookies the day before I decorate.

Step 2:

Now you need to prep your fondant.  If you are using white fondant, you will want to color the fondant with the gel food coloring.

To color fondant, start with white and add drops of gel food coloring, kneading as you go until fondant is the desired color. Mix together until it is fully mixed and no longer has a “tie-dyed” look to it.

If you are using pre-colored fondant, you don’t need to mix any food coloring.  Either method works, the white fondant option is a little more time consuming, but also a budget friendly option.

Step 3:

For each Bluey cookie, you will need the following shapes/colors: 1 Large square: light blue, 1 Large circle: royal blue, 1 Small rectangle: peach, 2 medium triangles: royal blue, 2 small triangles: peach, 1 small heart: light blue, 1 small heart: black, two large candy eyes.

For each Bingo cookie, you will need the following shapes/colors: 1 Large square: peach, 1 Large circle: orange, 1 Small rectangle: peach, 2 medium triangles: orange, 2 small triangles: peach, 1 small heart: peach, 1 small heart: black, two large candy eyes.

Roll out the fondant, one color at a time, to 1/4 inch thick.

Let’s start with the Bluey cookies.

Starting with the light blue, cut out a large square (the same size as the cookie) and a small heart for each Bluey cookie.  Cut the small heart in half.

With the royal blue, cut out one large circle per cookie, the size as the square.  Cut it in half and cut a small sliver off the straight edge of each side so that it is slightly more narrow.  Cut two medium sized triangles per cookie.

With the peach, cut out a medium rectangle per cookie and two small triangles per cookie.

With the black, cut out a small heart.

Set all pieces aside to dry/harden.

Alright…let’s talk Bingo.

Starting with the peach, cut out a large square (the same size as the cookie) and a small heart for each Bluey cookie.  Cut the small heart in half. Then cut out a medium rectangle per cookie and two small triangles per cookie.

With the orange, cut out one large circle per cookie, the size as the square.  Cut it in half and cut a small sliver off the straight edge of each side so that it is slightly more narrow.  Cut two medium sized triangles per cookie.

With the black, cut out a small heart.

Set all pieces aside to dry/harden.

Step 4:

Once all the pieces are hard enough to move without changing shape, you can start to assemble the cookies.  If the fondant is no longer a little tacky, you can use drops of water as glue to attach them together.

You can also place a very thin layer of frosting between the cookie and the bottom fondant layer, if you would like.  This is optional and the cookies take great either way.

Start with the large square.  Place it on the cookie.  Then add the two circle halves so that the straight edge lines up on either side of the cookie and there is a little space left in the middle.

Next, place the rectangle on the bottom section of the cookie, so that it is a little crooked.  Place the black heart on the tip of the rectangle to make a nose.

Place the heart halves and candy eyes on the circle halves.  Then put a small triangle into each medium triangle to make the ears.  These can be lightly pushed under the top of the square.

Finally, draw a mouth line with the edible marker.

Easy peasy and ready to enjoy!

Bluey Partyware

The easiest way to serve all the glorious party treats you make or buy is with themed tableware that supports your overall celebration. Coordinated plates, cups, napkins, and serving pieces instantly make the party table feel intentional and polished. When tableware matches the Bluey theme, even simple snacks feel festive and exciting.

Themed tableware is also one of the most budget-friendly ways to create a cohesive look. Instead of adding extra decorations, tableware naturally carries the design across the entire table. This helps the style flow through every part of the party without additional effort or expense.

Another major benefit is convenience. Themed tableware simplifies setup and cleanup, which is especially helpful for kids’ parties. Less time managing dishes means more time enjoying the celebration and interacting with guests.

Most importantly, themed tableware enhances the guest experience. When colors and patterns work together visually, guests notice the care that went into planning. The table looks polished, the treats stand out, and the party feels thoughtfully styled from start to finish. It’s a simple must-buy that delivers big impact.
