We thoroughly enjoyed this season of SpongeBob.  It was awesome introducing my kids to fun characters that I remember watching when I was young.  Squidward is (and always has been) my favorite character, with his often ill-timed irritation.

My kids, of course loved Sandy and Gary!  And they are begging me to make them some Krabby Patties!

SpongeBob Rice Krispies Treats Tutorial: STEP by STEP

Ready to learn how to make these fun little SpongeBob inspired treats?  Here is the step by step tutorial to get you ready to go…

Materials:

Step 1:

Prep Rice Krispies Treats.  If you are making them yourself, go ahead and follow the directions on the recipe and then cut to desired size.

If you bought pre-made treats (that’s totally what I did!) you can use them either at full size, or cut them in half and make mini-sized treats.

Step 2:

Lay a Rice Krispies Treat on the Parchment paper and trace with a pen or pencil.  Cut the rectangle out to use as a guide for cutting your fondant.

Using either yellow fondant or white fondant mixed with yellow food coloring, roll your fondant out to 1/4 inch thick. Make sure to leave some white fondant for teeth.

Cut one rectangle per treat using your parchment pattern and set aside to start firming up.

You will want the rectangles to be mostly hardened before you start decorating.

Step 3:

Roll out the white fondant to 1/4 thick.  Cut two very small rectangles for each treat and set aside to harden.  These will be SpongeBob’s teeth.

Step 4:

Once yellow fondant rectangles are mostly hardened, flip them over and use the underside, which will be a little softer.  To ensure that the candy pieces stick to the fondant, use a small drop of water per item.

The water will act like “glue” to help the candy stick to the fondant.

Add the candy eyes.  Draw the eye lashes and mouth line with the edible marker.

Then pink confetti sprinkles out of your sprinkle mix (two per treat) and add them to the corner of the mouth lines with a small drop of water each.

Add the two fondant teeth, also with a small drop of water.  Allow to sit for 5 minutes before moving.

Step 5:

Place the SpongeBob faces on top of the Rice Krispies treats.  The stickiness of the treats should hold the fondant in place, but if you want to add a thin layer of white frosting in between (either for taste or to be extra sure they stick) this is also a great option.

Easy peasy and done!
