What are Anatomy Puzzles?

Dr. Livingston’s beautiful, larger-than-life, medically-illustrated human anatomy puzzles are a great asset for teaching science. Each uniquely-shaped puzzle presents scientifically accurate cross-sections of the human body, at about twice the size of a real human.

Learning happens naturally as they are working on different parts of the anatomy. Each puzzle box looks like a vintage medical textbook and opens up with a smaller version of the puzzle for reference when assembling. This image is labeled with the names of body parts to aid in learning.

The puzzles can be assembled alone or combined together to create a continuous 10′ tall jigsaw puzzle of the human body.

Who are Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzles for?

These fun anatomy puzzles are designed for the middle school level. They are complex puzzles that do take a few days to assemble. We completed all seven puzzles over approximately a 3 week period. Most of the puzzle was done by my 10 and 12 year olds. They did a great job organizing the pieces and loved learning about the different parts of anatomy and discussing how each part functions.

The artwork on the puzzles is really beautiful and they re very vibrant and well made. These are very high quality learning puzzles that can be used again and again. These are definitely a great tool for homeschooling students learning about biology and anatomy in the 11-15 year old range.

There are seven different anatomy puzzles that all work together to showcase different portions of the human body and how it works together. All together they create the entire human body in greater than life size form to help kids to understand the way the body functions and see small parts in full color.

Dr. Livingston’s Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzle: The Human Head

The Human Head puzzle is a 441 piece puzzle. It measures 23 x 18 inches and is a cross section of the brain. It also includes a thick bony skull, the jaw and teeth. This was probably the puzzle that was the most fun to put together because of all the face featured like the eye and teeth.

The Thorax puzzle is 561 pieces. It includes a cross section which shows the rib cage and all the organs inside. The parts included at the sternum and thoracic vertebrae ans well as the trachea, lungs, and the four chambered heart

Dr. Livingston’s Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzle: The Human Abdomen

The Human Abdomen puzzle is 511 pieces. It contains the abdominal cavity and the connective tissue that halpes hold the vital organs in place. With this puzzle, you will explore the body’s lower digestive tract, including the stomach, small and large intestines, and the supportive pancreas, liver, and gallbladder.

The Human Right Arm puzzle is 478 pieces. This puzzle shows the soft tissue and musculature. It has interwoven nerves, arteries, and veins. The two arm puzzles differ in focus to give an overall view of the human body.

Dr. Livingston’s Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzle: The Human Left Arm

The Human Left arm puzzle is 472 pieces. The focus of this puzzle is the skeletal structure. Bones featured are the humerus, ulna, and radius bones.

It also includes the contours of the shoulder’s ball-and-socket joint down to the fingers’ many hinge joints. Veins and arteries are interwoven, carrying vital oxygenated blood and removing deoxygenated blood.

The Human Right Leg puzzle is 848 pieces. This leg puzzle displays the the musculature of the legs, and shows how each muscle and tendon relates to the next. It includes hip and thigh muscles, calf and ankle muscles as well as the complex network of arteries, veins, and nerves that run through the arm.
