Dinosaur Cupcakes Recipe: STEP by STEP

Here is the simple tutorial for making fun dinosaur cupcakes:

 

Materials:

• Unfrosted Cupcakes (any flavor)
• White Frosting (any flavor)
• Frosting Bag and Tip
• Fondant 
• Gel Food Coloring
• Knife

 

Step 1:

Bake cupcakes using your favorite recipe.  You can make the cupcakes any flavor or color!  Another option is to buy cupcakes from any bakery or grocery store and either ask for unfrosted or order the color of your choice!  

Step 2:

Mix white frosting with food coloring to desired color.  Pipe frosting onto cupcakes using the frosting tips and bag.  You do not need anything fancy to do this. 

A simple tip and pastry bag (or even a gallon sized ziplock bag with a corner cut out) can do the trick. 

Step 3:

Mix fondant with food coloring to desired color.  For the cupcakes in these photos, I used teal frosting and blue fondant.  Once the fondant is the desired color, roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into small (3/4-1 inch wide) triangles. 

Bend the triangles in half to make them look like a small tent.  Allow to harden. 4-5 per cupcake.

Step 4:

Place the tented fondant on the center of the cupcake in a line to form the “stegosaurus” like back.  Easy peasy and ready to serve!
