They’re easy, adorable, budget-friendly, and totally customizable, which pretty much checks every box when you’re trying to pull together a celebration that looks amazing without spending hours baking. Superhero Rice Krispy Treats Tutorial: STEP by STEP

Alright, let’s break down how to make these super cute and super simple treats.

Materials:

 

Step 1:

Make your Rice Krispies.  We use the classic recipe from Kellogg’s.  You will want to make them in a 9×13 pan and keep them relatively thin so they are easier to cut and retain their shape. 

Cut Rice Krispy treats with the starburst cookie cutter.

Step 2:

Mix your white fondant with the desired colors of gel food coloring.  Using gel coloring is much preferred to water based coloring as it won’t dilute the fondant and get too sticky. 

Make sure to save some white fondant for the letters.

Step 3:

Once you have the desired colors of fondant, roll it out to 1/4 inch thick and using the star burst cookie cutter, cut a fondant topper for each treat.  Allow the fondant to harden a bit, but not completely.  Leaving the bottom a little “wet” allows the fondant to stick directly to the top of the treats.  

You can also use simple white frosting like “glue” by putting a thin layer on top of the Rice Krispies and then adding the fondant to the top (once fondant is completely hardened.)

Step 4:

Roll out white fondant to 1/4 inch thick.  Use letter punch fondant cutters to punch out the letters you want on top.  I HIGHLY recommend using the letter cutters.  I cut the letters out by hand and it took FOREVER.  Next time I make these, I am 100% using the letter cutters!  

Allow letters to harden.

Using small drops of water, attach letters to fondant starbursts.  Just a small drop of water per letter is enough to adhere the fondant, once the water has dried.

Easy peasy and ready to eat!!
