How to throw a Captain Marvel Viewing Party in 4 easy steps.

If you are looking for a fun and empowering way to celebrate, the release of Captain Marvel on Blu-Ray is the perfect excuse to throw a party!*

Celebrate the newest member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in style with some fun and easy Captain Marvel viewing party ideas.

Around here, we really don’t need much of an excuse for a good party.  

If you are like us, and baking some treats and piling your daughter and her closest friends into your living room for a night of watching MARVEL-ous superhero action sounds like your kind of Saturday…

…here are some quick and easy ideas for a Captain Marvel party to get your creative super powers flowing.  

Also…I have included a super easy tutorial for making some delicious Captain Marvel Rice Krispies Pops…because, yum!

Firstly, let’s discuss the awesomeness of this movie:

Captain Marvel Review

I’m a huge Marvel fan.  We always make a point to see each Marvel film on opening day in the theatre.  I love seeing which elements the writers choose to pull from the comics and get super excited over the introduction of new characters.

Captain Marvel was definitely a comic favorite of mine that I was “patiently” waiting to make her big screen debut.  Guys…she did not disappoint! The movie was fantastic and her character was even better than I hoped for.  

 

It’s hard for me to love any female superhero as much as I love Black Widow…and this movie totally made me fall for Captain Marvel!!!

Here is some info on the movie:

Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that introduces it’s first stand-alone, female-franchise title character—Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.

We get to watch Danvers seek to learn about her past while working alongside a pre-SHIELD Nick Fury.  The little nuggets of backstory interwoven throughout are perfection!

I loved Brie Larson in the role of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Jude Law was so good as Yon-Rogg.

I definitely recommend this film to anyone who loves superheroes!  My daughter’s will for sure be BEGGING for a Captain Marvel party this year!!

 

Step 1: Where to find Captain Marvel on Blu-Ray

Captain Marvel can be picked up on Amazon starting June 11th.  I highly recommend purchasing either the Blu-ray or 4K version.  Not only does it come with the digital download so you can stream it on your devices, but you get all the fun extras!

I LOVE the bonus features on films like Captain Marvel.  Maybe I’m a movie nerd…but all the behind the scenes footage and discussions about product really is my favorite part of owning a movie!

Alright…so now that I’ve done my best to let you know why I think you owe it to yourself to see this film…let’s talk Captain Marvel party ideas…

Step 2: How to Decorate for a Captain Marvel Party

Decorating for a Captain Marvel party can be as easy as red, blue and yellow.  You can start with some simple solid colored partyware and decorations.  This would be a great basic for a Captain Marvel party theme.  

Also, a quick walk down any patriotic party aisle will give you plenty of patriotic decorating options.  This is definitely a perk of planning a Captain Marvel party between Memorial Day and 4th of July!!

You can also find some super cute Captain Marvel themed decorations for fairly inexpensive from Amazon.  Here are a few of my favorites that would be perfect for a Captain Marvel viewing party or Pajama party.


 

 

Personally, I would use mostly the solid colored decor (focusing on items like tissue poms and tablecloths) and sprinkle in these cute themed balloons and tableware items for a balance between the two.  

 

Step 3: Captain Marvel Party Food

So, now you know where to find the Captain Marvel movie and a solid plan for decorating.  Let’s discuss the party food! (Confession: this is ALWAYS my favorite part!!)

There are LOADS of ideas for Captain Marvel themed food.  Some items can be colored to match the party, like mango, strawberry and blueberry fruit cups or skewers.  

Another colored idea that would be great is jello cups or parfaits.  You can also add some flavored drinks for color.

DIY Captain Marvel Rice Krispies Treats

As promised, I have also whipped up a little tutorial for making Captain Marvel themed Rice Krispies treats pops.

Here are the instructions to make these fun little treats.

Ingredients:

Tools:

Directions:

  1. Melt Red Candy Melts in microwave (I recommend melting in 30 second increments a stirring in between to prevent the candy from burning)
  2. Dip the  top half of the Rice Krispies treats into the melted candy to the halfway point.  Tap against side of bowl to remove excess candy. Lay on parchment paper to harden.  You can also place these in your fridge to speed up the hardening process.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 with the blue candy melts on the bottom half of the Rice Krispies treats.  
  4. Roll the yellow fondant out to about ¼ inch thick.  Use the small star cookie cutter to cut a star for each pop.  Then cut ¼ inch strips of fondant for the stripe.
  5. While the blue candy melts are still cooling, lay the strips across the middle of the pops.  They will hang off the edges. Place the star on the middle. Allow everything to harden.
  6. Cut the excess fondant from the sides of the treats and stick a yellow paper straw into the bottom of the Rice Krispies treats.
  7. Keep refrigerated until party time.  Easy Peasy!

Captain Marvel Rice Krispies Pops

MARVEL-ous Captain Marvel Rice Krispies Pops that are perfect for a Captain Marvel themed party. These easy DIY treats are cute and delicious!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Additional Time 30 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • Rice Krispies Treats cut in half (or Rice Krispies Minis) Blue Candy Melts Red Candy Melts Yellow Fondant

Instructions

Step 4: What to wear to a Captain Marvel Party

Of course once your party is all set, you need something to wear!  For a day time party, this Captain Marvel Girls T-shirt would be absolutely adorable.  I mean you have to dress like our favorite superhero, right!

Captain Marvel Pajama Party

Another amazing way to throw a Captain Marvel themed party, would be a Captain Marvel sleepover.  Can’t you just see all your little guests wearing matching Captain Marvel pajamas eating popcorn (with the extra red and blue candy melts drizzled on top, of course)???

These Captain Marvel PJs for Girls would make PERFECT party favors too…grab a pari for each girl and they can wear them for the party and then take them home!  Just think of the photo ops from that one!!
