If your kiddo loves Star Wars and has a special soft spot for everyone’s favorite loyal Wookiee, then a Chewbacca-themed birthday party is an absolute must! Chewbacca is such a beloved character—strong, brave, lovable, silly, loyal, and iconic in ALL the best ways. Whether your child adores the hilarious sidekick moments, the growls, or the friendship between Han and Chewie, building a Star Wars celebration around this furry hero makes for a party that feels bold, warm, adventurous, and completely unforgettable.
One of the best things about a Chewbacca-themed Star Wars party is how creatively flexible it is. You can go rustic and earthy with his classic brown tones, play with textures and fur, incorporate cute Wookiee faces, or lean into the wider Star Wars universe for balance. Chewie might be the star, but Stormtroopers, the Millennium Falcon, lightsabers, and iconic Star Wars typography all layer in beautifully. This theme is perfect for kids who love the action-packed side of Star Wars mixed with the fun, silly charm of Chewbacca himself.
Chewbacca is a character that instantly makes people smile—kids AND grown-ups! So when you translate that charm into party décor, treats, balloons, and games, the whole party feels joyful and full of personality. Kids love the bold colors and textures, and parents love how simple it is to create themed food and decorations without needing professional supplies.
You can make Chewbacca cupcakes, adorable Wookiee cookies, themed snacks, or even “hairy” dessert table elements with brown frosting and candy belts. Pair these sweets with rustic wood textures, metal Star Wars accents, and themed tableware, and your entire party becomes a beautifully coordinated galactic celebration.
This theme can work for toddlers, big kids, or even adults (let’s be honest—Star Wars superfans span ALL ages). Whether you’re planning an at-home celebration or a bigger event, Chewbacca brings that perfect mix of fun, nostalgia, and playful adventure.
Let’s walk through all the Star Wars party ideas, Chewbacca décor tips, themed food ideas, and fun ways to bring this furry Wookiee to life!
In my house, we are huge nerds…we love Star Trek, Dr. Who, Marvel and so much more…but most of all…it’s Star Wars. We are Star Wars nerds to the core. I have literally designed so many Star Wars themed parties in my head, I just had to share a few. Soooo…I did it all for the Wookiee!
Ok, but seriously…in anticipation of the upcoming Solo Movie, I wanted to make a party to celebrate the galaxy’s greatest copilot and my little munchkin’s favorite Star Wars character: Chewbacca!
This party was just a simple spread I put together for fun:) I kept the decor very simple, with the colors focused around the black and white of my Modern Star Wars printables and the classic brown of Chewbacca.
All the fun goodies were made to look like Chewbacca with exaggerated eyes and yummy chocolate fur. I made a fun Chewbacca cake. If you would like to recreate this cake, check out the Chewbacca Cake tutorial toward the end of the post.
For the cupcakes, I made simple chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and put candy eyes in the frosting so the looked like little Chewie heads peaking over the top of black and white candy cups.
We happen to have several Chewbacca figures at my house (I did mention we were a little Star Wars obsessed, right?) These particular figures are the Chewbacca and the Chewbacca Bobble Head.
I cut out the Wild & Wookie Cake Topper and glued it to a black and white straw to make the cake topper. Wookie is totally the best Star Wars party theme…am I right?
For this party, I made two types of cookies. Gingerbread Wookiees and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Wookies. Both were as simple as they were adorable!!
This Chewbacca is the Playskool Galatic Heroes Chewbacca. The backdrop was a simple mixture of black and white polka dot balloons and brown tissue poms. The backdrop took me about 10 mins to put together and hang.
I used white poster board that I cut into strips and taped the balloons and poms onto the poster board in the shape I was wanting. Then I could easily hang the poster board as one piece instead of hanging individual pieces.
My favorite dessert from the party was the Rice Krispie Wookiees. I have a fun and easy tutorial for how to make these Chewbacca treats as well toward the end of the post.
The treat boxes were tied with some Chewbacca fur and had an assortment of chocolate and caramel fit for a Wookiee!! Here’s my little guys loving his party!
My little Rowdy sure loves his Chewbacca Tsum Tsum!! Don’t you love this adorable “I speak Wookie” onesie??
Star Wars Party Ideas
Star Wars party ideas are full of galactic excitement and imaginative fun! Whether you choose a classic movie theme, highlight the heroes and villains, or focus on one beloved character—like Chewbacca—you’ll have endless creative possibilities. Kids love lightsabers, battle training challenges, themed snacks, and fun décor like planets, stars, and droids.
You can go dark and dramatic with black and silver elements, or lean into rustic and earthy colors for a Wookiee-focused party. Add in banners, character cutouts, themed balloons, and Star Wars signage, and your space instantly transforms into a galaxy far, far away. The beauty of a Star Wars party is that even a few simple details go a LONG way!
How to Focus Your Decor Around Chewbacca
Focusing your Star Wars décor around Chewbacca is easier—and more adorable—than you may think! Chewie’s rich brown fur, his iconic bandolier, and his expressive face give you three strong elements to build your entire décor theme. Start by incorporating lots of brown textures: faux fur runners, wooden crates, kraft paper, woven baskets, or rustic serving trays.
Layer in Chewie’s signature bandolier pattern using paper strips, banners, labels, or even napkin wraps. You can also add black, white, and silver accents to keep everything in the Star Wars aesthetic. For fun pops of character, use Chewbacca balloons, plush toys, printable graphics, or themed signs.
This focus keeps your décor bold yet cohesive, and kids immediately recognize the Wookiee inspiration. Whether you go minimal or all-out, Chewbacca-themed décor adds warmth and charm to your celebration.
Chewbacca Themed Food
Chewbacca-themed food is SO fun, kid-friendly, and surprisingly easy to make! Think chocolate, brown-colored treats, and simple candy add-ons to mimic Chewie’s fur. Cupcakes topped with brown frosting and a candy belt become instant Wookiee cupcakes. Rectangular cookies with piped “fur” icing turn into adorable Chewbacca cookies.
You can also make Wookiee snack mix, Chewbacca brownies, chocolate-dipped pretzels with candy bandoliers, or “Furry” donut holes dusted with cocoa powder. Savory foods can be themed too—label brown-tinted snacks as “Wookiee Bites,” “Chewie Snacks,” or “Fuel for the Falcon.”
The magic comes from simple colors and fun labels—kids immediately see Chewbacca in the treats, and the whole food table becomes a fun, furry celebration!
Chewbacca Party Decor
Chewbacca party décor combines rustic textures, warm tones, and playful Wookiee references that make your party feel fun and immersive. You can include brown and black balloon garlands, faux fur runners, wood crates, metallic touches, and themed Chewbacca banners. Adding prints or signs featuring Chewie’s face or growl quotes (“RAWR!”) adds instant charm.
Lightsabers, droid décor, and Millennium Falcon elements help anchor the Star Wars universe while keeping Chewbacca as the main focus. For a cute touch, add footprints, themed silhouettes, or DIY bandolier props. With just a few items, your party transforms into a cozy corner of the galaxy!
How to make a Chewbacca Cake
Star Wars: How to make a Chewbacca Cake. Want to make a Chewbacca themed cake for your Star Wars party?
Let’s celebrate the greatest Wookiee of them all with a fun Chewbacca Cake!!! I am breaking down how to make this Chewbacca Cake from my Wild & Wookiee Star Wars Party! Here you go…
Materials:
- 3 boxes of Chocolate Cake Mix or your favorite Chocolate Cake Recipe.
- 3 cans chocolate frosting
- White Fondant
- Black Fondant
- Silver Sugar Sheets
- Cake Stand
- Tiered Spring Form Pans
- Icing Spatula or any flat kitchen utensil
- Parchment Paper
- Rolling Pin and Mat
- Knife
- Circle Cookie Cutters (optional)
Step 1:
Bake the cakes according to the instructions on the box or recipe. You will want two large (9″) and two medium (7″) cakes. This Tiered Springform Pan works PERFECTLY.
Just use the two biggest sizes twice. Set the cakes onto parchment paper to cool (you can also bake ahead of time and place in the freezer (this helps to keep the cakes super moist!).
Step 2:
Once the cakes are cool, place one larger cake onto your cake stand. Put a layer of frosting on top of the cake. This should be about .25 to .5 inch thick. Place another larger cake on top (top side down so the smoother bottom of the cake is facing up.
Step 3:
Repeat the process with the smaller cakes.
Step 4:
Once you have the cakes in place. Start frosting all the cake surface. The goal for a Chewbacca cake is to make the frosting look like fur…so the messier the better! Layer the frosting making sure all the cake is covered.
Step 5:
After you put a layer of frosting on the cake, come back with more frosting and make sections heavier with frosting so it looks like layered fur.
Once easy way to do this is to place frosting on the cake and then lightly press the icing spatula against the frosting pull away so the frosting gets a little sloppy and “follows” the spatula.
Step 6:
Roll out white and black fondant until it is about .25 inches thick with a rolling pin. Using a 1.5-2.5 inch circle cookie cutter (or tracing a lid with a knife…if you don’t have a cookie cutter!), make two white circles.
Repeat with a smaller circle on black fondant.
Using a very small amount of water (just a couple drops) “glue” the black circles on to the white circles to make eyes. Cut a strip on black fondant about 6 inches long in a parallelogram.
Cut small rectangles of silver sugar paper out and attach to the black fondant with a few drops of water to make Chewbacca’s belt.
Step 7:
Place the eyes and belt onto the cake. Your Chewbacca cake is ready to be displayed and enjoyed! Easy peasy, right!!!

How to make Chewbacca Rice Krispie Treats
Star Wars: How to make Chewbacca Rice Krispie Treats. Love Chewbacca? We sure do! Today I’m sharing these easy peasy Chewbacca Rice Krispie Treats!
Throwing a Star Wars blast? Whether your party celebrates all things Star Wars, or just the cutest co-pilot in the galaxy, you need some yummy DIY Chewbacca treats in your life! I am breaking down how to make this Chewbacca Rice Krispie Treats. Here you go…
Materials:
- Rice Krispies Recipe or Pre-made Rice Krispies Treats
- Chocolate Frosting (Pillsbury Pastry Bag)
- White Fondant
- Black Piping Gel
- Silver Sprinkles
- Spoon
- Circle Cookie Cutters (optional)
Step 1:
You have two options for starting this recipe. The first is to make a big batch of rice krispie treats following the original recipe and cute them into small rectangles. Option two would be to buy a bunch of individually packaged rice krispies treats.
For this tutorial, I used option two. I preferred this option because it saved time and they were all super uniform.
Step 2:
Cover the top of the Rice Krispie treats with chocolate frosting. You can spread frosting from a can, but I found using the Pillsbury Pastry Bag to be super convenient and much less messy.
I simply squeezed out frosting in a quick zig zag pattern to cover the top of the treat.
Step 3:
Once the Krispies were covered with frosting, I used the back of a spoon to blend the frosting all over so it looked like fur.
To make the frosting stick out in various places and really resemble fur, I lifted the spoon away from the frosting periodically so the frosting would pull away from the treat and give a little “bloop” on top.
Yep…we are using bloop as a technical term today.
Step 4:
Roll out white and black fondant until it is about .25 inches thick with a rolling pin. Using a .75-1 inch circle cookie cutter (or tracing a lid with a knife…if you don’t have a cookie cutter!), make two white circles.
Make pupils using the black piping gel and making a very small dot. Allow the fondant to dry for 30 mins or so and then place in the frosting.
Step 5:
Use the black piping gel to make Chewbaca’s utility sash and sprinkle lightly with silver sprinkle. Easy peasy and of so cute!!
Enjoy your super cute little Chewbaccas! You know you want to try one!!

This is the Black Series Chewbacca and the itty bitty Chewbacca.
This Chewbacca figure is the Disney Infinity Chewbacca.
I also made a Chewbacca brown tassel banner for the table. Simple and cute, and of course, Rowdy is trying to peak at his table of treats!!
The water bottle labels work great on traditional water bottles, but I also figured, Wookiees probably drink stouter stuff that plain water…so we used frappaccino bottles for the “Wookie Water”
Here is a close-up of the tassle banner…so fun and easy!!
Star Wars Party Supplies
One of the easiest—and most affordable—ways to create a polished Star Wars Chewbacca party is through themed party ware. Truly, this is the secret that instantly elevates your entire setup without requiring hours of crafting or expensive decorations. When your plates, cups, napkins, trays, and utensils match the colors and characters of your theme, your food table becomes a coordinated centerpiece in seconds.
For a Chewbacca-inspired celebration, start with brown, black, silver, and blue tableware. These colors mimic Chewie’s fur tones and the Star Wars aesthetic. Add in themed cups or plates featuring Chewbacca or other Star Wars characters, and suddenly even the simplest snacks look professionally styled. Themed napkins with Chewie’s bandolier design? Instant perfection.
Themed tableware also helps keep your entire party visually cohesive—from your dessert table to your snack station to the drinks area. Kids will notice the characters on their plates, and it adds a fun, immersive element to the party experience. Meanwhile, adults appreciate how clean and organized everything looks.
Even if you’re serving simple food—like popcorn, cupcakes, fruit, or pretzels—placing them on themed tableware transforms them into part of the décor. It’s one of the most budget-friendly ways to stretch your styling impact without sacrificing the fun Star Wars feel. Definitely a must-buy for any Chewbacca or Star Wars-themed celebration!

Conclusion for Chewbacca Party Ideas
A Chewbacca-themed Star Wars party is such a playful, warm, and incredibly fun twist on the classic Star Wars celebration. It brings in all the adventurous energy of the franchise while highlighting one of the most beloved characters in the galaxy. Chewbacca’s expressive personality, his deep loyalty, and his hilarious growls make him a kid favorite—and building your party around him gives your event a theme that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
This theme is perfect for parents who want something recognizable and exciting, but still flexible and approachable. With Chewbacca, your color palette becomes deliciously simple: warm browns, earthy textures, black and silver accents, and playful furry details. This makes decorating incredibly fun—and often more affordable—than more complicated themes. You can build your entire décor around faux fur pieces, rustic crates, wooden trays, and Chewbacca-inspired signs. And of course, add a few Star Wars touches like lightsabers, droids, and iconic symbols to anchor the theme in the galaxy.
One of the standout elements of a Chewbacca party is the food. With so many chocolate and brown-toned treats available, creating Wookiee-inspired desserts is easy and adorable. From cupcakes with piped “fur” to cookies with edible bandoliers, kids instantly recognize the character inspiration. Themed labels and creative displays help tie everything together effortlessly.
Using themed party ware enhances the theme even more. Brown plates, black cups, metallic napkins, and Chewbacca-printed tableware create a cohesive look that makes your dessert table pop. Even if you stick to simple snacks, the presentation makes your spread feel intentional and fun.
Children absolutely LOVE stepping into a Chewbacca-inspired space. You can create immersive moments with Wookiee-themed crafts, Star Wars games, or lightsaber play. Even adding a few Chewbacca growl sound effects or music tracks makes the experience magical.
In the end, a Chewbacca-themed party is full of heart. It celebrates bravery, friendship, adventure, and fun—just like Chewie himself. Whether you’re planning a backyard bash, an indoor dessert party, or a themed movie-night celebration, the possibilities are endless. I hope these ideas inspire you to create a celebration that’s warm, whimsical, and wonderfully Wookiee-filled for your little Star Wars fan!
