Adorable PB&J party and a peanut butter and jelly cake!
Do you have a pb&j loving baby? Throw a peanut butter & Jelly Party! Celebrating your little one’s favorite things is the best way to plan a birthday party! This is a fun and unique theme for a birthday party. Embrace all things peanut butter with cute pb&j decor and delicious peanut butter food!
Sticky Fingers and Crusts Galore, Our little peanut is turning FOUR! The theme for my sweet little Emma’s party was inspired by her LOVE of pb&j. This was seriously one of my favorite parties to plan (and yes…I realize I basically say this about EVERY party!!)
There are few things more classic, comforting, and undeniably nostalgic than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. For many of us, PB&J represents childhood in the sweetest, simplest way—gooey, delicious, and full of happy memories. And when you take something so timeless and turn it into a birthday party theme? Pure magic! A PB&J party is playful, whimsical, unexpected, and absolutely adorable. It’s the kind of theme that makes guests smile the moment they see it, because who doesn’t love a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich?
What makes a PB&J-themed birthday party EXTRA fun is how creative you can get with it. Think soft pastels, bread-shaped decorations, cute peanut and grape characters, jelly-inspired colors, and snack ideas that playfully mimic everyone’s favorite sandwich. It’s a theme that works beautifully for toddlers, preschoolers, and even first birthdays because it’s simple, sweet, and bursting with charm.
PB&J parties are also incredibly budget-friendly. You can use soft purples, pinks, and browns; simple banner shapes; gingham tablecloths; and cute homemade signs. It doesn’t need elaborate decorations to look adorable. Even the food becomes part of your décor—themed sandwiches, little grape treats, peanut-shaped cookies, and jelly-colored snacks add instant personality to your table.
Another huge perk? Kids LOVE this theme because it feels familiar and delicious. PB&J is something they already enjoy, and turning it into a party with fun colors, playful details, and sweet touches makes it extra special. You can lean into a cute “best friends” peanut and jelly vibe, a vintage sandwich-shop look, or a modern pastel spread. No matter what direction you choose, it’s irresistible.
If you’re planning a PB&J-themed celebration—whether for a first birthday, toddler bash, or a fun “just because” party—this guide will walk you through décor ideas, favors, themed food, and adorable ways to style this deliciously nostalgic theme.
My Emma is a little spitfire who loves cute and silly things, so going overboard on the pb&j was perfect for her. Everything was peanut butter and jelly inspired from the food to the games.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Decorations
Peanut butter and jelly decorations are sweet, whimsical, and full of charm. This theme is SO fun because the décor practically designs itself! Think bread-shaped banners, cute peanut and grape characters, jelly swirls, sandwich-inspired garlands, and small pops of purple, cream, and caramel brown throughout your space. Even simple backdrops in soft pastels feel perfectly on-theme.
You can incorporate gingham patterns, wooden boards, soft textures, and pastel balloons to create a cozy, picnic-meets-vintage-sandwich-shop vibe. Add in jars of “jelly,” peanut illustrations, or bread-shaped cutouts, and your space quickly transforms into a playful PB&J wonderland. Whether you go rustic, modern, or cartoon-cute, PB&J decorations are easy, adorable, and SO satisfying to style.
For the decor, I used lots of pink and purple (for her favorite jelly flavors, strawberry and grape) and burlap for a shabby chic peanut butter shell feel. I incorporated a lot of kraft paper into the design too, to emphasize the peanut butter tan and play up the rough feel of the shabby chic.
Party Backdrop
For the party backdrop, I painted wood to match the printable design with brown stripes and pink polka dots. The central focus was a vinyl adhesive print of the design from the printable set.
It helped to set the tone of the party.
Welcome Sign
For the welcome sign, which is my favorite way to greet a party, I attached the printable welcome sign to a burlap covered foam wreath. It was super easy to make by wrapping and hot glueing the burlap to the foam.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Printables
All of the printables used in this party are available at the bottom of this post (look for the teal button at the bottom). The design was made with the peanut print in mind and the colors or strawberry and grape jelly.
The package includes things like this gifts banner and the mini name banner above.
We had such a blast putting together this fun party theme!
PB&J Party Food Ideas
PB&J party food ideas are some of the cutest and easiest snacks you can create. Since the entire theme revolves around food, your table becomes part of the décor! You can serve classic PB&J sandwiches in cute shapes, mini sliders, jelly cups, peanut butter dips, fruit skewers, and grape-inspired treats. Think peanut-shaped cookies, toast-shaped pastries, and fun variations of the traditional sandwich—grilled, toasted, layered, rolled, or cut into adorable shapes.
You can also incorporate snacks that match the color palette: purple grapes, blueberries, pretzels, crackers, peanut butter cups, and cream-colored sweets. Add themed labels like “Jelly Jars,” “PB Bites,” or “Sandwich Station,” and your food display looks instantly Pinterest-perfect.
The crown jewel of this peanut butter and jelly party was definitely the food. Everything was themed around either peanut butter or strawberry/grape. Delicious and oh so fun to style!
PB&J Treats
For the treats, we ha PB&J Popcorn, PB&J Puppy Chow, PB&J Donuts, and PB&J Sandwiches. Here is the delicious popcorn i cute little pink and purple cupcake cups.
Peanut Butter and jelly donuts were delicious. They were baked and glazed with a peanut butter icing. In the center was a dollop of strawberry frosting and a peanut butter cookie. Perfection.
We served three types of peanut butter sandwiches, so there were plenty of choices.
Including uncrustables for the dessert table, accented by the cute fondant cupcake toppers from Edible Details. The sandwiches were displayed on plates filled with sixlets to give it a pop of color!
We also made peanut butter and jelly puppy chow by covering Chex cereal with peanut butter, strawberry cake mix and white chocolate.
PB&J Cupcakes
We served peanut butter and jelly cupcakes (peanut butter cupcakes with grape jam filling) with adorable fondant cupcake toppers from Edible Details. The toppers were absolute perfection!
Along with the fondant toppers, I added printable toppers as well. These cupcakes were definitely some of my favorite of the day!!
Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies
Of course, we can’t forget cookies. I love getting adorable royal iced sugar cookies for a party.
Cute large peanut butter and jelly slice cookies from Auntie Bea’s Bakery. The little bow on the jelly cookies is my favorite detail. We displayed these cookies on plates of shelled peanuts for texture and theme!
Nutter-butters and small strawberry and grape cookies from Crafted Cookies were placed in glass jars to accent the dessert table.
These little cookies were especially popular with the smaller children!
PB&J Cake Pops
These fantastic and super delicious Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake Pops were made by my friend Niki from Nikki’s Cake Pops.
She matched them to the party printables perfectly. They were so sweet!
I placed the cake pops in jars of shelled peanuts and jelly beans to display them.
Party Drinks
They also drank some yummy milk and strawberry lemon-ade.
Along with water bottles with matching wraps of course.
Don’t forget to grab this delicious lemonade recipe.
I accented the straws for the kids cups with cute straw flags from the printable set.
And of course, old fashioned milk bottles for the milk to wash down all that peanut butter!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake Recipe: Step by Step
Ingredients:
- White Cake Recipe (or a box of White Cake Mix)
- Cream Cheese Frosting- 2 cans
- Peanut Butter 5-8 Tablespoons
- Strawberry Jam 5-8 Tablespoons
- Red Food Coloring (optional)
Step #1:
Bake 4 round cakes using a Non-Stick 9 Inch Round Cake Pan. Flip the pan upside down onto wax paper and place in the freezer until ready to frost and serve.
Step #2:
Mix one can of cream cheese frosting with 5-8 Tbsp of Peanut butter until it is the consistency and taste desired. Mix the second can of cream cheese frosting with 5-8 Tbsp of Strawberry Jam until it is the consistency and taste desired.
A little bit of red food coloring can be added to the strawberry frosting to create the correct color of pink. I recommend only 1-2 drops.

Place one of the round cakes onto the cake plate and frost the top with the peanut butter frosting. Make sure to get the frosting close to the edge of the cake.
It does not need to be smooth or even…in fact, messier makes it look more authentic. Add another layer of cake and frost with the strawberry frosting.
Repeat with a third cake and peanut butter frosting. Add a final cake to the top .
