So typically the colors that come to mind when talking about Halloween are ORANGE and BLACK. Orange jack-o-lanterns, black cats, but what about GREEN??
Everything is green these days…EVERYTHING. You even get dirty looks at the grocery store if you opt out of the reusable bags and ask for plastic (but seriously…they are so much easier to carry than paper and I barely remember to bring my LIST half the time, let alone remember to bring bags.)
In spite of not being super green in other elements of life, there is one area where I am VERY GREEN…
CRAFTS!!!
I LOVE recycling crafts. There is something beautiful to me about taking ordinary objects, trash, or undesirable things and re-purposing them to be something new and fresh and completely usable. There is so much creativity in making a completely random object into a whole new random object:)
Also being GREEN in crafts is frugal…Crafting can be spendy, especially when you try to be unique and creative. Reusing in crafts saves lives (ok, not really, but it does save money)!!
So while I may not be a GREEN person with any other aspect of my life…I’m totally a GREEN crafter…
So if you are like me and completely behind in your Halloween decorating…dig through your trash, grab some inspiration and have hope that you don’t have to be the only house on the block without something spooky in your yard WITHOUT blowing your budget…

I can’t say I’m much of a Halloween person or an arts and crafts mom but I definitely do appreciate those who have this ability to get this creative around any holiday. This is a perfect idea for a classroom activity at schools as well.
You are a creative mom, they are so blessed. This will keep mine and mom busy this coming school holidays.
These ideas are so cute! I am so ready for Fall and Halloween to be here!
I’m not the greenest person in the planet, but we definitely have reduced our “packaging waste” to about 10% in the past 5 years. I never buy canned food, and prefer buying unpacked greengrocers at the green market, I just go with my basket and put the veggies in. Same with eggs and most fresh products (the only thing I still buy packed is milk, but we don’t drink that much milk. So I won’t have the materials to create these. But reading your article a neat idea came to my mind: what if I proposed this as a school activity? yes I’m sure other kid’s families have plenty of these containers and we could make an atelier to create Halloween decorations!! That should be so much fun!!
