When we threw my son’s first birthday fishing party, these bobber Oreo pops were definitely the most popular treat on the table.
The kids were so excited to eat them and the vanilla yumminess of the candy melts mixed with the already awesomeness of the Oreos made them a hit with the grown-ups too! The best part of all…they are crazy easy to make.
No need to spend a ton or slave away on hard to make treats. These are easy peasy and oh so delicious!!!
Truth be told…my husband was a little upset about these. He fishes with yellow/orange bobbers. When I opted for the more traditional red/white, he totally didn’t get it.
So I guess the moral of that story is…you can also make these in yellow/orange if you have a picky fisherman in your home too!!
Here is the DIY Bobber Oreo Pop tutorial:
Materials:
- Red Candy Melts
- White Candy Melts
- Lollipop sticks
- Oreos
- Mike & Ike candies (just the red ones)
- Washi Tape
- Oreo Pop Mold
Step 1:
Open up your Oreos and press a lollipop stick into the cream filling. Close the Oreo over the stick, carefully so as not to break the Oreos.
Step 2:
Melt Red Candy Melts in a microwave safe container. I can usually get about 8 Oreo pops from one bag of Candy melts. Put the Melts in the microwave for 30secs at a time, stopping to stir the candy until it is melted.
Once melted, use a soup to fill the Oreo Pop mold halfway full with melted candy.
Step 3:
Press the Oreo into the mold, almost all the way to the bottom, making sure you don’t press so far that you see the Oreo on the bottom.
Fill the candy mold until it is full and the cookie is completely covered. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the candy down on the back side. Place in the refrigerator to set the chocolate.
Step 4:
While the red chocolate is setting, cut the red Mike & Ike candies in half and set aside. Melt the white candy melts, following the directions above.
Step 5:
Using washi tape, mark off the line on the Oreo pop where you would like the white to stop. This will help you to have a smooth, straight line.
Dip the Red Oreo Pop into the White Chocolate overlapping the washi tape slightly. make sure all the red on the top of the washi tape is covered.
Gently pull back the tape.
Step 6:
Lightly push the Mike & Ike candies into the top of the Oreo pop. Place the whole pop back into the refrigerator to set.
See…I promised easy, right! You can totally do this!!!
