Bunny Cupcakes Tutorial: STEP by STEP

Alright, let’s get to the baking!  These cupcakes are really super simple to make!

Materials:

Step 1:

Bake cupcakes using your favorite recipe.  It doesn’t really matter what flavor you pick, but these cupcakes would be best in a white or “pink” flavor.

Another option is to buy cupcakes from any bakery or grocery store and either ask for unfrosted or order the them with plain white or pink frosting!

Step 2:

Mix white frosting with pink food coloring.  I opted for a very small amount of pink for a soft, pastel shade, but you can make these cupcakes as pink as you desire!

Place the colored frosting into a piping bag.  Pipe frosting onto cupcakes using the frosting tips.  You do not need anything fancy to do this.

A simple tip and pastry bag (or even a gallon sized ziplock bag with a corner cut out) can do the trick.  Allow cupcakes to cool entirely before frosting.  I usually place my cupcakes and frosting into the fridge prior to piping.

Step 3:

Set cupcakes aside (keeping them cool so the frosting doesn’t melt.)

Divide white fondant, keeping 2/3 white and adding pink food coloring to desired color for inner ear.

Roll out the white fondant to 1/4 inch thick.  Using a knife, cut ear shape (2-2.5 inch rectangle with on end pointed).  Make two ears per cupcake.  Lay aside and allow to harden.

Repeat the process with the pink fondant, make the inner ear section 2/3 the size of the white outer ear.  Lay aside to harden.  Make two ears per cupcake.

Step 4:

Once the fondant pieces are almost completely hardened, attach the inner ear to the front of the outer ear and gently fold forward on ear per cupcake.  Allow to fully harden.  Place ears into frosting.

Easy peasy and ready to serve!
